Strawberry Music Festival Turns Hangzhou Steelworks Park into Spectacular Sonic Oasis
Hangzhou Steelworks Park, designed by TLS and Jiakun Architects, set the stage for an extraordinary musical experience as the renowned Strawberry Music Festival took place on June 17-18. Over 5,000 music lovers gathered at the post-industrial park’s great lawn area, with the furnaces serving as a stunning backdrop. The festival showcased an eclectic mix of genres and featured both emerging talent and established acts, captivating the audience from start to finish. The transformation of the park into a vibrant musical oasis highlighted the park’s landscape splendor. As the sun set, the crowd danced and swayed to the rhythm of the performances, harmonizing with the industrial charm of the park.
TLS and Jiakun Architects Consortium won the international design competition of Hangzhou Steelworks Park back in 2020, and construction commenced in late 2021. Currently, the phase 1 area is nearly completed, including the central lawn events area. The Strawberry Music Festival is a significant demonstration of the design concept “toughness and tenderness”, blending the power of music with the allure of repurposed historical landmarks.
